Accounting Manager

Digitalis Ventures is seeking an Accounting Manager to assist in all finance activities related to venture fund accounting. This role is a tremendous opportunity for an individual with the skills, experience, and drive to help build the Fund Finance team at Digitalis Ventures.

Responsibilities
The Accounting Manager role includes, but is not limited to the following activities:

Accounting and reporting
• Produce quarterly and annual audited financial statements.
• Assist in all operations of the funds and related entities, including capital calls, distributions, management fee calculations, general ledger entries, and reporting.
• Oversee the preparation and review of year-end tax returns and K-1s.
• Provide timely reporting for L.P. meetings.
• Understand performance metrics and partner’s capital allocations.
• Assist with various ad hoc requests and projects throughout the year.

Portfolio management
• Maintain comprehensive financial information on the investment portfolio.
• Collaborate with deal team to prepare quarterly valuations of portfolio companies and ensure accuracy and completeness of the data.
• Assist with the forecast and planning of fund reserves.
• Understand performance metrics and interest in valuations.

Fund Finance administration
• Oversight and primary relationship manager for Digitalis Ventures’ banking partners.
• Assist in developing internal controls/standard operating procedures.

General office management


Preferred qualifications
• B.A. or B.S Degree in Accounting or Finance.
• High degree of ownership and accountability.
• Desire to learn.
• Attention to detail and commitment to information accuracy and quality.
• Ability to partner across the Digitalis Ventures team and with external partners efficiently and constructively.
• Strong Excel and financial modeling skills.
• 6+ years of experience in a combination of public accounting, venture capital and/or private equity asset management. Prior experience with venture capital firms strongly preferred.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment, as well as independently.
• Positive and proactive mindset.

• Expected annual base pay of $115,000 to $135,000 (pay may vary based on experience or other relevant factors)

Financial Analyst,
Animal Health

Reporting to the Animal Health Partners, the Financial Analyst will play a foundational role in building Digitalis’ knowledge creation and management capability for animal health related software, diagnostics, and broader innovation in the ecosystem. This role is an opportunity for an exceptional financial mind to work alongside our investment team to inform investment decisions and strategy, advise portfolio companies on route-to-market and commercialization strategies, and originate and develop theses to help shape the future of animal health.

Responsibilities
• Drive financial and business modeling with high attention to detail during diligence and ensuing analytic support of portfolio companies
• Collect, collate, and contextualize the data required to identify and support the most promising teams, businesses, and technologies in the animal health sector
• Develop and support near and long-term investment thesis development for select opportunity areas of interest
• Identify and interview industry subject matter experts, key opinion leaders, physicians, and management from early-stage companies – and use this external network to diligence new opportunities and support portfolio companies
• Complete detailed quantitative assessments, including market sizing, and building and analyzing financial models
• Complete detailed qualitative assessments, including customer discovery interviews, market mapping, and industry analysis


Preferred qualifications
• 4+ years of experience in investment banking, buy-side equity research, venture capital, private equity, or a relevant operating role.
• MBA preferred, JD/MBA a plus
• A knowledge and passion for the early-stage animal health ecosystem
• Interest in partnering with and supporting early-stage entrepreneurs and portfolio companies
• Strong writing skills and a well-developed understanding of financial concepts and modeling skills
• Hard work ethic, attention to detail, self-motivated, organized, intellectually curious

Research Analyst,
Animal Health

This role is an opportunity for an exceptional researcher with hands-on experience as a veterinarian to work alongside our investment team to build an industry-leading research function that will inform investment decisions and strategy, advise existing portfolio companies on route-to-market and commercialization strategies, and originate and develop new theses to help shape the future of animal health innovation.

Responsibilities
• Collect, collate, and contextualize the data required to identify and support the most promising teams, businesses, and technologies in the animal health sector
• Develop and support near and long-term investment thesis development for select opportunity areas of interest
• Become an expert in novel and emerging animal health business models, the evolving regulatory landscape such as VCPR, and technology areas of interest
• Identify and interview industry subject matter experts, key opinion leaders, physicians, and management from early-stage companies – and use this external network to diligence new opportunities and support portfolio companies
• Stay current on key trends in animal health technology and represent Digitalis at industry conferences
• Complete detailed quantitative assessments, including market sizing, and building and analyzing financial models
• Complete detailed qualitative assessments, including customer discovery interviews, market mapping, and industry analysis


Preferred qualifications
• DVM and/or PhD with in-field experience in animal health
• 4+ years of experience in animal health, whether in care delivery, research, operations, or other analytic roles
• A knowledge and passion for the early-stage animal health ecosystem
• Interest in partnering with and supporting early-stage entrepreneurs and portfolio companies
• Strong writing skills and a well-developed understanding of financial concepts and modeling skills
